Significant advancements like block-chain, augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the internet of things are transforming the field of library administration. These technologies offer significant opportunities for personalised services, immersive learning, and effective operations. Their implementation is hampered by a number of factors, including the need for specific knowledge, high expenses, and concerns about data privacy. This essay explores the benefits and drawbacks of integrating emerging technologies in university libraries, focussing on how they might revolutionise library services and the barriers that must be overcome for successful implementation.
